Sacrifice of the Lamb

Across the blood stained valley rode the Lamb of God.
His face turned toward the Holy City, his mission at hand.
Some tried to tell him to please stay away,
Yet the Lamb of God rebuked Satan to go astray.

The temple mount loomed as the palms waved in many hands,
And the Messiah rode on his mission would stand.

Death followed him closely, ready to pounce,
His betrayer was wary and already renounced.
And the Messiah strode forward, his mission at hand.

The humiliation and torture awaited his soul,
Yet the Christ bravely obeyed the Father’s goal.

With the shadow of the cross laying across his face,
He wept tears of blood as he realized his fate.

He asked his faithful three to please remain awake,
Yet they slept soundly in the garden their eyes heavy and bleak.

The Redeemer laid down his life that faithful day,
Shedding his holy blood for humanities sake.
The Messiah strode forward, his mission at hand.
