Because human nature is broken, when government
becomes god we find ourselves being ruled over by an idolatrous theocracy that
believes all its decisions are perfect. We lose democracy as the government thinks
of itself a perfect god that hands down directives as well as makes decisions
"in the best interest of the people." They justify their actions
based on god given authority. Basically it comes down to the abuse of power as
there are no longer any checks and balances.
Human beings are by nature hungry for power. Those
running the government will begin to push their agendas on the population with
a false sense of theodicy. Even when our objectives are pure and intended for the mutual good, things still go wrong and unintended or not, destructive results have the potential to occur.
